The CBRTP works to make the river accessible to all. The Partnership, supported by Chesapeake Bay Gateways Network funds, has built a corridor of user friendly launch sites. And....the work continues!

Sites are open everyday -Spring until Fall

Cohocton River

Bath Township - Route 11

There is a dirt road to this launch site and a step ramp into the river.

Directions from Route 17/I-86:
Take exit 39
Left at the bottom of the exit ramp
Pass under Route 17/I-86
The dirt access road is on the left
The access road is quite long

Local Attractions:

Mossy Bank Park and Nature Center - Rt. 10 in Bath - offers trails for hiking and cross-country skiing

Babcock Hollow Campground offers over 90 campsites with electricity. Showers, recreation building, camp store, ice, and laundry are available. There is access to swimming and fishing. There are also handicap accessible sites. Open April - October

Campbell Township - Wood Road

Wood Road has a gravel path, parking for 4-6 cars and concrete steps leading down to the water

Directions from Route 17/I-86:
Exit 41
Right onto Route 125
First left onto Wood Road
The site is on the left
Look for the split rail fence and the bridge

Erwin Township - Kinsella Park

Kinella Park is the last site on the Cohocton River before it flows into the Chemung. This launch site is within a park with various athletic fields. The site offers a pavilion, picnic tables, grills, outhouses, and services within one mile. You can enjoy the playground, explore the nature trail and watch the river from benches.

Directions from 17/I-86
Exit 44 to Route 15
On Route 15, take the Gang Mills EPIC Park Exit
Then, take the first right onto Canada Road and follow it around a bend to the end

Current river depth at Campbell, optimum levels for boating - 2-3 feet
Current river depth at Corning, optimum levels for boating - 15-17 feet

Fishing
The Cohocton River usually contains Smallmouth Bass, Trout and Carp. Many fishers also report catching Walleye in the area.

Exit 34S to Route 21 South toward Hornell
After about 5 miles, Route 21 will become Route 36
Follow Route 36 for another 5 miles

Follow River Road. River Road will become Canisteo Center Road
Left onto Depot Street
Right onto Route 36
Right onto Dineen Road

Cameron Mills Township - Route 110

Directions
From Corning area, take US 15 south to SR 417 west to Addison. From Addison, take CR 119 west approx. 10 miles to CR 110 and the launch site.

From Hornell area, take SR 36 south to Canisteo. From Canisteo, take CR 119 east approx. 14 miles to CR 110 and the launch site.

From Bath area, take CR 10 south to Cameron. From Cameron, take CR 119 east approx. 2.5 miles to CR 110 and the launch site.

Rathbone Township - Route 21

This site has a gravel access path and a large parking area.

Directions from Route 17/I-86:
Gang Mills Exit to Route 15
Right onto Route 417 West toward Addison
Slight right onto West Front Street State
(near Wade's Building Supply)
West Front Street becomes 432, River Road
Follow 432, River Road for about five miles
Left onto Route 21
(at fork in the road near the highway department)
Follow Route 21 for about a mile and cross a bridge
Just after crossing the bridge, take a right onto a gravel road

Addison Village - Tuscarora Creek

Directions from 17/ I-86:
Gang Mills Exit to Route 15
Right onto Rt. 417 West
Slight left onto Main Street (near Wade's Building Supply)
Cross over RR tracks and a bridge
Remain to the left of Old Village Hall Memorial Park
Cross over another bridge and look for a left onto Cleveland Drive
On Cleveland, drive past school athletic fields on the left
Look for a gravel path on the left, after the softball field

This site offers a gravel parking area with a gradual slope down to the river. The water is fairly shallow, as the Tuscarora Creek flows into the Canisteo River.

Pinnacle State Park and Golf Course - Enjoy views of the river valley and 11 miles of trails that are perfect for hiking or cross-country skiing. There is also a 9-hole golf course and a pond where fishers can catch bass, bluegill, and bullheads.

Chemung River

Corning City - Conhocton Street

This rustic access site offers a dirt slope for launching boats and a peaceful place for fishing.
The next site, River Road, is three miles away along the river.

Points of Interest:
Traveling to this site, you will see the beautiful Centerway Bridge.
The Corning Museum of Glass
is only a mile and a half from the launch site. This museum includes the world's most comprehensive glass collection. Enjoy the interactive exhibits and glassblowing demonstrations. You can even purchase tickets to participate in a glass making workshop.
The Rockwell Museum of Western Art is only a mile away from the launch site. Exhibits feature the Myth of the West, wilderness, buffalo, horses, cowboys, Native Americans, and the Southwest. You can also experience traditional southwest Tex-Mex cuisine at the Cantina restaurant.
The Spencer Crest Nature Center is located about four miles from the site. The Center offers seven miles of walking trails and include water features and an apiary.

Corning Township - River Road

This site is located in Corning, off of Route 44. This site offers parking for at least six cars, benches, and a stairway down to the river.

Take a slight left onto County Road 44/River Road
After about a mile, look for the sign on the left

This site offers a concrete boat launch and a large parking lot.

There will be a large sign on the left

Left onto River Road
River Road becomes South Corning Road

Local Attractions:
Harris Hill Park
Harris Hill Soaring Center- hosts regional and international events during the summer months and offers glider rides for the public
National Soaring Muesum - located on Harris Hill, commemorates the history of motorless flight. The museum offers glider displays, computerized flight simulators, and educational programs
Warplane Museum - located that the Elmira Corning Regional Airport, offers a unique collection of aircraft
Smithome Farms located on Route 352 - prepicked produce or pick-your-own seasonal fruits and vegetables, corn maze, child-sized haybale maze, picnic area, tractor-pulled hay rides, and fall birthday parties on weekends.

Elmira - Fitches Bridge.

This site has extensive parking on a gravel road and a gradual slope into the Chemung River.

There is a convenience store and other shops within a mile on Route 352.

Take a right onto Grove Street

From the East

(one block after the S. Walnut Street Bridge) Take a left onto Grove Street

Follow the paved roadway up and over the dike. Drive slowly and carefully over the dike because there is poor visibility in this section.

Athens Township - Tozer's Landing

Tozer’s Landing is one of four parks in Athens Township. It has a concrete ramp, a large parking lot, camping area for those traveling the river and a rent-a-john. It also has two small pavilions.

Directions from Route 17/86
Go east on route 17/86 take exit 60. At the light take a right on to Rt 220. Go half a mile and take the Sayre exit. At the stop sign take a right on to Wilawana Rd. and go about quarter of a mile cross the Chemung River and you will see Tozer’s Landing on your left.
